Goal of the programme: to teach the highly skilled specialists who are capable to provide all the necessary treatment for congenital and acquired heart disease patients, cardiothoracic injuries and prepare as a surgeon for certification as a cardiac surgeon.


Eligibility: MD degree.


To acquire detailed knowledge about congenital and acquired, acute and chronic cardiac surgical disease etiology pathogenesis, signs and symptoms, diagnostics, as well as medical and surgical treatment indications. Trainee should learn diagnostic methods used in cardiac surgery, get familiar with used technological equipment, practice diagnostic and surgical procedures, as well as surgical operation full realization according to programme content.


Knowledge: types of heart disease, signs, epidemiology, pathophysiology, and modern methods of treatment, types of heart surgery, the indications, complications of myocardial revascularization options for heart substitution of hybrid and minimally invasive cardiac surgery for thoracic organ disease treatments.

Skills: to organize and execute emergency cardiac assistance, to meet the most frequent cardiac procedures complicate the correction of congenital heart disease, pericardial resection, tumor surgery and cardiac function in scientific projects.

Competency: to treat cardiac patients by following cardiac surgery, to train students in the specialty; doctoral studies and participate in scientific research projects.


Knowledge tests at the end of each study course. Residency State exam at the end of the program in a form of oral and written evaluation, including scientific thesis.
