Goal of the programme: to ensure the knowledge and skills according to current guidelines in obstetrics and gynaecology, to prepare the doctor for the certification in the specialty of obstetrics and gynaecology, according to Latvian legislation.
Eligibility: MD degree.

Extended and broadened knowledge and understanding of medicine and specialty of obstetrics and gynaecology. The knowledge will comply with requirements for specialty certification and meet high standards in the field, both scientifically and professionally. It will ensure creative thinking in clinical practice and research, as well as improve abilities for working in multidisciplinary fields. Ability to recognize and define female genital diseases and normal and pathologic course of pregnancy and delivery. Knowledge in etiopathogenesis, diagnosis, differential diagnosis, treatment and prevention of gynaecological diseases and pregnancy complications accordingly to the regulations of the specialty.
Skills that will allow to work safely, effectively, ethically and independently in taking care of pregnant or gynaecological patient; to be able to perform appropriate diagnostic procedures, make diagnosis and differential diagnosis, manage pregnancy and delivery, perform obstetric and gynaecological operations.
Competencies: knowledge, skills and attitude for clinical work, research, public education via mass media, comprehension of teamwork, the way it works, psychodynamics, crisis situations and their solving; as well as the management and supervision of the multidisciplinary team, to supervise physician and medical support personal.
