Goal of the programme: serve the acquisition an graded increase of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in according to achieve expected level approved by the National requirements of the Otolaryngology Association.

Eligibility: MD degree

CONTENT OF THE PROGRAMME

Acquisition of skills and knowledge in functions and diseases, local and regional anesthesia, allergy, impact of environmental factors, trauma, malformations and other disorders in childhood and in adults; of the ear, temporal bone and lateral skull base, nose, paranasal sinuses and anterior skull base, oral cavity, pharynx, larynx, trachea and adjacent structures. Theoretical education is based on theoretical seminars. According to study programme length certain number of seminars are organized. Practical education in a form of study courses according to the programme.

STUDY OUTCOMES

Knowledge

Trainee should reach established level of knowledge, approved by the Otolaryngology Association in Latvia, before being eligible to practice.

Skills

Trainee should interpret investigations in specialty, is familiar with basic ORL diagnostic and therapeutic (surgical and non-surgical) methods, perform statistical analysis of studies, protect own opinion if required.

Competencies

Trainee should be planning and organizing own life-learning professional education, take responsibility of staff work and perform its analysis, should be able to perform innovations of enterprises in specialty; manage emergency situations and working in complicated, unpredictable situations.

Tests

Examination after each study course and the Residency state exam in the end of the study programme.

Study language: Latvian.
