Goal of the programme: to master the theoretical knowledge about the development of the congenital and acquired cardio-vascular diseases, the physiology and pathology. To acquire practical skills in diagnostics, treatment and prophylactics of the cardio-vascular diseases in children.
Eligibility: MD degree or certification in paediatrics
- CONTENT OF THE PROGRAMME
The duration of the programme is 3 years, during which time the resident has to familiarize with the theoretical knowledge in embryology of the congenital heart diseases, the aetiology, pathology, symptomatology and the differential diagnosis of the congenital and acquired cardiovascular diseases. To get acquainted with the indications and the possibilities of the conservative and surgical treatment. During the program the resident has to master the methods of diagnostics, tools and hardware in the field of paediatric cardiology as well as the practical use and possibilities of the surgical treatment of the cardiologic patients. The resident has to attend problem lectures, to take part in teaching, to do and to present scientific work.
- STUDY OUTCOMES
After the study program resident obtains the knowledges and competence in paediatric cardiology.
After the study program resident understands aetiology, pathology, symptomatology of cardiovascular diseases. Resident has technical skills in outpatients and inpatients care, electrocardiography, Holtermonitoring, echocardiography (transthoracic, transesophageal and fetal ), exercise testing, interpretations of chest X-rays, cardiovascular CT or MRI, cardiac catheterization.
Ability to take care of cardiologic patient without assistance. Ability to do and present scientific work. Ability to be a trainer in paediatric cardiology.
Test: after the completing the third year the resident takes the theoretical examination which includes multiple choice questions and clinical case scenarios, presentation of scientific work. The resident is responsible for the diagnostic and the therapeutic manipulations done. After graduation the resident is awarded certificate in paediatric cardiology.
