Goal of the programme: to provide theoretical knowledge and practical skills and development in accordance with the requirements of sports medicine physician's speciality regulations, to prepare doctors for certification in the speciality of sports medicine under the normative documents of the Republic of Latvia.

Eligibility: MD degree.

CONTENT OF THE PROGRAMME

Theoretical education is based on theoretical seminars. According to study programme length certain number of seminars are organized. Practical education in a form of study courses according to the program.

STUDY OUTCOMES

Knowledge of sports medicine and specialtys related on medicine, of sports pathology including injuries and its rehabilitation, bodys response during sports training and race course, athlete nutrion, doping and its control in paralympic sports.

Skills: clinical and sports medicine disciplines, sports medicine and its related industries, investigations used in sports medicine and functional assesment methods, compieantce with the chosen sport and dosage of exercises, determination of eligbility of participation in sports events, doping control, injuries and its rehabilitation.

Competency: relationships of the body's physical functions and its loads, athletes medical monitoring, concern of associations physical health and healthy life styles, diagnostic treatment and rehabilitation related to sports and physical activities.

Test

Theoretical examinations after each study course and knowledge tests at the end of the programme, including individual research presentation.

Study language: Latvian.
