Doctors frequently have to face unusual challenges and handle difficult patients – those might be children afraid of doctors or soldiers requiring medical assistance in conflict zones. Within our themed series of interviews “Doctor – it is a mission” we have interviewed RSU medical student Vili Pehkonen who shared with us his experience at RSU and plans for the future.
With the summer holidays drawing closer, the Ambassador of Finland to Latvia Olli Kantanen accompanied by the Consul Asta Puolakka paid a visit to RSU to meet with Finnish students and discuss diverse topical issues related to different aspects of Finland–Latvia relations, the life of Finnish community in Latvia and other matters of interest.
To foster and expand cooperation between Latvia and India, on May 24 the Ministry of Economics of the Republic of Latvia in cooperation with the Ministry of External Affairs of India and the Embassy of India to Sweden and Latvia held the first India–Latvia Business Conference.
To mark the 30th anniversary of the Erasmus mobility programme, the European Association of Erasmus Coordinators (EAEC) held a congress in Maribor, Slovenia to look back at the development path taken by the mobility programme since its establishment in 1987 and together with EC representatives and Erasmus coordinators from European universities map out the future of the programme after expiry of the current Erasmus planning period in 2020.
Last month, the city of Rīga hosted the semi-annualconference of trhe European General Practice Research Network EGPRN, the first meeting of the kind ever held in Latvia. The EGPRN is an international organisation of general practitioners and other health professionals involved in research covering the areas of primary care and family medicine.
