On 24 October, the outstanding Latvian pianist Reinis Zariņš will give a piano solo concert 'The Dance of the Keys' at RSU Great Hall. The concert includes music by J. S. Bach, F. Chopin, T. Ades, J. Vītols, H. Villa-Lobos and M. Ravel.

The Cabinet of Ministers have recently approved the amendments to the certification procedure of international graduates of dentistry study programmes, thus putting a full stop to the more than two years’ long discussion. This decision will be a major turning point in the export of higher education and enhancement of international competitiveness and it is a critical decision for aligning the national dentist certification procedure with the prevailing EU practice.
Following a tradition introduced several decades ago, RSU invites all freshmen to the traditional Sports Day to be held this Friday in Uzvaras Parks. Join in and meet new people in a competitive and friendly atmosphere. Freshers are encouraged to take part in teams to reveal their skills and team spirit on the basketball or volleyball court or demonstrate their sprint speed and running technique in the 100-meter sprint, 1000-meter run or relay race.
If internationalisation were to have a face, it would be that of Johannes Steibl, a fifth year medical student at RSU. As the former vice-president of Deutsche Studenten im Ausland (German Students Abroad) and the vice-president of RSU International Students’ Association, not only is he the perpetuum mobile of the international students’ community but also an ambassador for the Latvian language, culture and traditions.
The signing of the cooperation agreement between RSU, the Latvian Pensioners’ Association, the Estonian Pensioners’ Union and the Lithuanian Union of Pensioners Bočiai earlier this month earmarked the beginning of implementation of a joint project “Age is not an Obstacle” financed by NordPlus Adult. The project will last for two and a half years and is aimed at improving the quality of life of elderly population.
