Prime Minister of Latvia Mr Māris Kučinskis paid a working visit to Rīga Stradiņš University last week to meet with RSU officials and students and to discuss government support initiatives for development of RSU strategic directions.

The first destination of the visit was the recently opened Centre for Nuclear Medicine “Medvision” (pictured below) where Mr Kučinskis was acquainted with the advantages and efficiency of PET/CT technological solutions in the treatment of cancer patients, uniqueness at Baltic level and future export opportunities.

Mr Kučinskis also visited the pre-clinical learning centre at the Faculty of Dentistry (pictured below) and the freshly renovated premises of paediatric dentistry unit and students’ clinic at the Dental Institute, confirming the leading role of RSU in dental education in the Baltics and high demand from international students.

At the end of the visit RSU rector informed on the university’s intention to establish a solid dosage form laboratory which as for today is the missing interim element between production of drugs and treatment of diseases.

Prime Minister gave a positive assessment of RSU achievements and future intentions and agreed with the university’s officials to join efforts in implementing RSU plans.
