An academic reputation survey conducted by the market research company Kantar TNS Latvia reveals that RSU has been recognised a top quality university with outstanding reputation being ranked the highest among the ten largest universities of Latvia.
The reference group aged 15–26 years has assessed RSU reputation with 74 index points, while the sectoral average awarded by this target audience is 58 points. The overall (15–60 years) assessment of RSU reputation is 69 points what is the highest score for Latvia as compared to the average academic reputation assessment by the given reference group – 57 points. RSU reputation index exceeds Europe’s average for all sectors, i.e. 46 points.
The survey reveals that RSU reputation is rooted in the university’s trustworthiness and supreme academic quality. The diploma awarded by the university is highly regarded on the job market and the acquired speciality provides knowledge and skills essential for employability in the chosen profession.
RSU rector, Prof. Jānis Gardovskis recognises that, “a good reputation is hard to earn, thus once earned it is an extremely important asset. Our outstanding performance indicators are the result of a well-weighed long-term development strategy, which, due to pursuance of strictly defined goals by the entire RSU team, students among them, over the course of many years has enabled RSU to turn into the most progressive local university. Therefore I strongly believe that this reputation ranking is by no means a one-off coincidence but instead – the assessment of our attitude towards work and society on a daily basis”.
The Latvian academic reputation survey was conducted in February and March 2017 in the form of computer-assisted telephone interviewing, by surveying 1002 inhabitants of Latvia aged 15–60 (this is a representative sample for general population in the given age group).
In addition to medicine and healthcare studies, RSU nine faculties offer contemporary sciences study programmes. As for today RSU has 7495 students, among them 2032 international students from 49 countries.
