On April 25, the Embassy of Latvia in Stockholm hosted an information session for prospective Swedish students on study possibilities at Rīga Stradiņš University.
The information session was opened by the Ambassador of the Republic of Latvia to the Kingdom of Sweden, Mr Gints Jegermanis, who illustrated the advantages of Latvia and RSU as an academic destination, emphasizing the close affinity of Latvia and Sweden, study quality in Latvia, excellent traffic connections and dynamic cultural life in Rīga.
During the informative event the Director of RSU International Department Baiba Pētersone gave a presentation on Rīga Stradiņš University and informed on study programmes which are taught in English. The representative of the education agency Språkpunkten, a long-term cooperation partner of RSU Johan Stenhammar gave useful information on grants and state aid programmes available to Swedish students. He also shared with the participants of the event previous experience of Swedish students at RSU. The meeting was closed with an informal briefing session during which the attendees could ask individual questions on specific subjects of interest.
Currently there are 360 Swedish students at RSU out of which 311 study medicine and 49 are dentistry students. Swedish students form the second largest foreign students’ community at RSU outpaced only by Germans.
