Noted Finnish professor to lecture at RSU Scientific Conference

raimo puustinen-leadOn Friday, 11 April, at 15:00 noted Finnish professor of medical philosophy and medical practitioner from the University of Tampere Raimo Puustinen will be holding an open lecture, "Signs, symptoms and interpretations – creating meaning in medical consultation", within the framework of the annual scientific conference of Rīga Stradiņš University.

Professor Puustinen is vice-president of the Finnish Society for Philosophy of Medicine, member of the National Advisory Board on Social Welfare and Health Care Ethics and member of the Finnish Medical Association. He is an internationally noted expert in the field of medical philosophy and ethics, professor at the University of Tampere (Finland), as well as visiting professor at universities of the Nordic countries. Professor Puustinen is not only a general practitioner, but he also holds the title of doctor of philosophy and is a brilliant lecturer!

Participants of RSU conference are offered the unique opportunity to participate in the lecture, during which topical issues in bioethics will be approached from theoretical and practical perspectives. During his lecture, professor will point out that the comprehension and interpretation of disease symptoms and signs affect the diagnosis within the framework of medical theory.

The lecture will be exciting for medical students and students of humanities and social sciences alike.
