RSU will take part in 1st European Psychosomatics Summer School

prof-gunta-ancaneFrom 14 till 18 July Medical University of Graz (Austria) will be hosting the 1st European Psychosomatics Summer School with an emphasis on quality and performance of primary psychosomatic care. Rīga Stradiņš University as a partner institution will be represented by its Department of Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy. Head of the department Associate Professor Gunta Ancāne (pictured) alongside with colleagues from other European countries will hold sessions.

The management of primary psychosomatic care in various European countries differ. Only in a few European countries there are voluntary or compulsory certified programmes in basic psychosomatic medicine. Association of European Physicians for Psychosomatic Medicine and Psychotherapy is committed to the establishment of European standards in the quality and performance of Psychosomatic Primary Care in Europe. Special attention will be paid to these aspects during the summer school which has been organised in conformity with association’s teaching programme.

Around 20 physicians engaged in primary psychosomatic care will take part in summer school, among them – general physicians, professionals of different fields of medicine, managers of programmes of continuing education in the field of medicine.

On the first day RSU Associate Professor Gunta Ancāne will hold lectures on therapeutic doctor-patient relationship and during the next days she will hold sessions on such topics as psychosomatic assessment, mental health and body distress.
