International conference on security reinforcement to be held at RSU

Presently, we are experiencing an increase in international tensions and regional conflicts, escalation of terrorism and violence. In the social sector, one can see insecurity of population, the increase of legal and illegal migration and human trafficking, people’s daily incomes decrease while expenses increase. At global and regional levels, extremist and terrorist threats become more intense and the possibilities of criminal threats are as well on the rise.

On 23 April 2015, Rīga Stradiņš University together with the Baltic Centre for Strategic Studies of the Latvian Academy of Sciences, Mykolas Romeris University (Lithuania), Swedish Security and Policy Development Institute, Tallinn Law Academy and Social Sciences (Estonia) and Safety Institute (Poland), organises an international scientific practical conference titled Topical Problems of Security Reinforcement: Political, Social, Legal Aspects.

The following problems will be identified and discussed during the conference:

  • Current situation of political, social, legal (criminal) threats and their tendencies;

  • Types and forms of political, social, legal (criminal) threats;

  • Most essential factors of security reinforcement;

  • Current state of security reinforcement system and the most essential problems: aspects of legal regulations, institutional and resource provision;

  • Perspective developmental directions of national and global security.

Specialists and experts on security and prevention and fight of crime from Estonia, Lithuania, Poland, Sweden and other countries will take part in the conference. Priorities on security reinforcement and possibilities in their implementation will be identified in conclusion of the conference.

Conference venue and time: RSU, 16 Dzirciema Street, Rīga, 23 April 2015. The conference starts at 10:00 a.m. Registration of participants from 9:30 a.m.

Conference languages: Latvian, English, Russian.

Abstracts of conference participants will be published in the collection of conference abstracts (including their electronic version).

For the participation at the conference an application must be submitted by 23 March. Full text of abstracts, written according to the conference regulations, has to be submitted by 2 April. Should the abstract fail to comply with the regulations, it will not be published!

The conference programme will be delivered after receiving the application (by 20 April).
