After winter admission of 2015, Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) experienced the enrolment of a further 336 students. The number of newly enrolled local students remained at the same level, whereas, there has been an increase of 52 % in the number of international students over winter admission of 2014.
This winter 85 local and 251 international students representing 24 countries were enrolled at RSU. “This is a record number of newly enrolled international students out of all winter and summer admissions. Compared to last year, the number of international students increased by 86 students or 52 %,” said admissions officer Māris Ginters.
The majority of newly enrolled students represent Germany, Sweden and Finland. He adds that “We have enrolled a record number of students from Sweden and Portugal. Besides, the number of students from India is the highest for the past ten years. We are also pleased to conclude that dentistry programme grows in popularity.”
The number of enrolled local students remains similar to that of the winter admission of 2014.
Here is what Indra Treija, head of RSU Admissions Committee, has to say regarding the age of the recently enrolled students: “Winter admissions are usually popular with mature applicants and it was no exception this time around: the average age of local students is 34.” The currently enrolled international students, however, are mainly 20 years old.
