On Monday, 22 February, at 16:00 the Chinese Lantern Festival will be celebrated in the canteen of the main building of Rīga Stradiņš University (16 Dzirciema Street) marking the end of the New Year holiday. Lantern Festival falls on the 15th day of the first month of traditional Chinese calendar. Opposed to Chinese New Year that is celebrated with family and friends, this festival is associated with going out to temples and city squares carrying thousands of bright and colourful lanterns, eating rice balls and reading riddles.

RSU employees and students are welcome to participate in this festival. Attendees of the event will have an opportunity to take a closer look at Chinese traditions, enjoy traditional Chinese Tiger Dance and other performances by the students of RSU Confucius Centre and Language Centre, as well as to try traditional Chinese rice balls.

The event is organised by RSU Confucius Centre with an aim to bring Chinese and Latvian cultures closer. Director of the Confucius Centre, Mrs Una Aleksandra Bērziņa-Čerenkova, will be hosting the event.
