On 21 April, Mr Gani S. Nygymetov, President of Bolashak Center for International Programmes (Kazakhstan), paid a working visit to Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) to discuss the opportunity of including RSU in the list of Bolashak programme institutions. The leading universities in Western Europe – study destinations for the citizens of Kazakhstan – are included in the list. The high-performing students from Kazakhstan have been granted the Bolashak scholarship to study abroad.
RSU Rector Jānis Gardovskis and the Head of RSU International Department Baiba Pētersone gave a presentation about RSU and study opportunities in English offered by RSU. Mr Nygymetov also visited preclinical premises of RSU Faculty of Dentistry and Medical Education Technology Centre. During the visit he was accompanied by Ms Anita Vahere-Abražune, Deputy Head of the Department Policy Initiatives and Development at Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Latvia.
The Bolashak Programme was established in 1993. Since then over 10,000 students from Kazakhstan have been granted the scholarship to pursue their studies in the top universities worldwide. The list of the Bolashak universities will be reviewed by the government of Kazakhstan in October 2016.
