Maecenas Mr Boriss Teterevs, the chairman of the Alumni Association of RSU Mr Romans Lācis and the rector of RSU Mr Jānis Gardovskis have signed an agreement of trust, which states the support for health care education in Latvia.
During the meeting, the Foundation of Boriss and Inara Teterevs’ and the Alumni Association of RSU signed the agreement about making funds of 65, 000 lats for the modernization of study environment and developing projects of competitiveness. Scolarship of support for those medicine students who can’t afford to study due to the lack of financial resources and those who have gained recognition of excellence during study years are intended.
“Rīga Stradiņš University is open for new challenges, creative people and new ideas that can improve the quality of the highest standards in any field of our work”, says the rector of RSU Mr Jānis Gardovskis in gratitude for supporting his Alma Mater to Mr Boriss Teterevs.
During the meeting, both parties signed the first contract of the project which defines that 5,000 lats are to be spent for obtaining teaching resources in obstetrics and gynecology. In the nearest future study study phantoms and study resources will be purchased.
“In an up-to-date study environment, it is crucial to have both theoretical and practical study resources of high quality; that is why we highly appreciate the support provided by the Foundation of Boriss and Inara Teterevs’ financing course of studies in obstetrics and gynecology”, says Professor Associate Ms Dace Rezeberga, chairperson of the department of obstetrics and gynecology.
Maecenas Mr Boriss Teterevs graduated Rīga Stradiņš University (those days – Rīga Medical Institute) in 1980.
The Foundation of Mr Boriss and Inara Teterevs’ were established in 2010 with the aim to encourage the growth of culture, arts and education in Latvia and abroad. The Foundation has already managed to fund “The Completion Program of Rundale Palace 2010–2014”, promotes and supports modeling the sculpture of the legendary ballet dancer Maris Liepa, which is to be constructed by the end of 2011. The Teterevs family wants to promote the idea of charity among the businessmen in Latvia.
