Rehabilitation Days at RSU

In September 2013, the Faculty of Rehabilitation of Rīga Stradiņš University, in cooperation with the Latvian Association of Rehabilitation Professional Organizations, is organizing two significant complementary events: the 8th Congress of Baltic Association for Rehabilitation (18–19 September) and Baltic Association of Rehabilitation Student Forum (17–20 September).

8th Congress of Baltic Association for Rehabilitation, 18—19 September 2013

Attention: Registration for the congress closes on Monday, 16 September!

The theme of the 8th Congress of BAR is Rehabilitation in Baltic States 2020: Policy and Practice. This time we are planning to focus on two sub-themes perspectives and challenges of developing rehabilitation sector in scope of health care and welfare and evidence based practice in rehabilitation. We are going to initiate discussion on medical, social, political and patient centred scope of rehabilitation politics and, as result, the Resolution of Development of Rehabilitation in the Baltic States (2020) will be adopted. In the context of evidence based practice there will be topics on clinical guidelines, ICF concept in rehabilitation, quality of life, health promotion and diseases prevention, rehabilitation in cardiology and oncology Professional Associations of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, nutrition specialists and art therapists will organize separate sections related to specific professional topics in the second day of congress.

The congress will be great opportunity to discuss and exchange experience, introduce with evidence from recent research and establish new partnership. Professionals in the field of rehabilitation (doctors, therapists, social workers, psychologists etc.), students and anyone interested are welcome to participate in the congress, during which lecturers from Lithuania, Estonia and Latvia, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Austria, Finland, will share their experience and results of research

The first day of the congress will take place at the Ķīpsala International Exhibition Centre, 8 Ķīpsalas Street, Rīga. Alongside with the congress, the 7th National Specialized Exhibition for Medicine, Medbaltica 2013, will be held. On 18 of September, a social gathering for congress participants and guests will be held at the Medical Education Technology Centre of Rīga Stradiņš University, the most up-to-date medical education centre in the Baltics. The second day of the congress will be held at Rīga Stradiņš University, 16 Dzirciema Street.

The working language of the Congress is English.

Baltic Association for Rehabilitation Student Forum 2013 (International Late Summer School)

The Student Forum's aim is to establish international partnership between studying rehabilitation specialists in the Baltic region and to encourage their scientific activities. Let us begin a new tradition of students in the Rehabilitation sector!

It is a great opportunity to take part in the educational sessions, exchange experience, make new connections and friends from other Baltic states, see and try the technologies and laboratories in the most up-to-date medical education center in the Baltics.
