RSU Alumni Association members participated in Shadow Days organized by Junior Achievement Latvia, in February 17th, 2010. The popularity of Shadow Day is increasing: 400 organization applications were received and approximately 8300 pupil applied to be a shadow for different kind of professions.

The 3rd International interdisciplinary scientific Conference "Society, Health, Welfare" organized under the Faculty of Rehabilitation and Department of Social Work will be held in Riga, Latvia on November 11. – 12. 2010.

Youri L. Vater, M.D., Ph.D. has been appointed for RSU Alumni Association Director of International Alumni Relations. He is alumni of Rīga Stradiņš University (former Riga Medical Institute). Currently living in the USA and holding the position of Associate Professor for Department of Anaesthesiology & Pain Medicine School of Medicine University of Washington, Seattle. His area of expertise is liver transplantation and bariatric anaesthesia.

For the fifth year in a row, the students of Latvia will celebrate the “Festivities of Love”. This year the event will take place from February 11th – 12th. Annually, “Festivities of Love” is held to reach a social objective – to donate blood.

On the 4th of December, the International Office organised an Intercultural Evening for RSU full-time and ERASMUS exchange students. Throughout the evening students had a great opportunity to get to know each other better and to familiarise themselves with various cultures. The evening started with a presentation of the Latvian culture by demonstrating national costumes, national instruments, songs and dances, which were a big hit with everyone.
