Academic leave is granted by the University Rector on the basis of a student’s application (doc) (pdf), and by taking into consideration the point of view of the Dean of the International Student Department and the Deans’ Council, in the following cases:
To grant you an academic leave if you are unable to continue your studies due to medical indications, you must present a certificate, issued by a medical institution or your GP and add it to your application when applying for an academic leave.
To grant you an academic leave if you are unable to continue your studies due to social conditions, you must present a certificate, issued by a competent state or municipal social assistance institution and (or) other documents, which would testify to the conditions described in the application when appying for an academic leave.
Studies at another university
If you want to interrupt your studies at RSU to continue studying at another university for a certain time, you must present a document testifying to the conditions described in the application, and you have to add it to your application for an academic leave.
Note! This does NOT apply to students who are going on an exchange programme at another university.
To grant you an academic leave due to maternity/paternal leave, you must present a copy of the newborn’s certificate of birth, and you have to add it to your application for an academic leave.
NB! If the application forms are registered at the Dean`s Office no later than 5 days before the semester, Student is excluded from the University before being enrolled in the next semester. Should the request forms be registered later than 5 days before the semester or during the semester, Tuition fee and penalty fee (if required) calculations are applied, as stated in the Study Contract.
The academic leave is granted for one academic year, but no more than three times during the study period (undergraduate and postgraduate studies). If a student within a respective study time needs extra academic leaves, they are granted by the University Rector on the basis of a student’s motivated application and by considering the point of view of the Dean of the International Student Department and the Deans’ Council.
Application on resuming of studies after the academic leave or prolonging of the academic leave has to be submitted to the Dean of the International Student Department no later than within five days before the end of the academic leave. Tuition Fee Refund Policy
The tuition fee will be calculated individually depending on how long the student has studied, however, it shall not exceed the amount set in the study contract. Usually the tuition fee is not refunded during the academic leave. The calculated sum is left on the student`s RSU account until the student returns when it is used again for the tuition fee.
Any overpayment of fees will only be refunded only upon leaving the University and submitting 2 forms:
Note! These forms exclude the student from the University, interrupting the Academic leave.
The bond money of EUR 300.00 (or EUR 600.00 before admissions of Academic Year 2013/2014) is refundable, if there is no damage or debts made to the University.
