Course description and objectives of the course
Learning of the basic terminology, stimulating positive attitude and motivation
Understanding of international terms that help in reading medical texts
Development of reading and writing skills by reading authentic scientific and other texts (drug labels, instructions, reading and filling in forms)
Work with dictionaries, creating individual glossaries
Linguistic work (formation of nouns, plural of nouns, declensions, active and passive voice of verbs, subjunctive mood, participles, infinitive, etc), improving pronunciation, intonation, stress.
The objective of the course: to develop the students’ competence in Russian medical terminology.
Prerequisites: knowledge of Russian, proficiency level A2 in accordance with the Common European Framework of Reference for Language Learning, Teaching and Assessment
Knowledge: Professional terminology in Russian; scientific language structure and rules
Practical skills and competences: the students will be able to highlight the key areas in the text; to find the key words, to summarize, comment and discuss different professional issues in Russian
Examination methods: a written test without a mark at the end of the course, after the students have answered individual reading.
