Please take a moment to run through this short list of important things that may be helpful to you when using the e-ticket (e-talons in Latvian) on the bus, tram or trolley in Rīga.
Student discount: 50% off
Even though your personalised ticket is valid for several years, your student discount of 50% needs to be renewed every year in September! This can be done at E-ticket Client Services Offices. To acquire an e-ticket, you need to get a reference from the RSU Student Services in Room K-100, and then go to E-ticket Client Services Offices. Upon the presentation of a valid reference (note that Student ID is not considered valid proof), you will be issued a student e-ticket with 50% discount.
Uploading the ticket
You can upload your e-ticket at:
- Narvesen, Plus Punkts and other trade outlets
- vending machines at bus stops/on trams
- online at www.rigassatiksme.lv/en/tickets-and-e-ticket/
Using the ticket
To avoid penalties, you must register your e-ticket when you get on public transport, even if you have a monthly e-ticket (see picture on the right).
As with all electronic appliances, some tend to be faulty. Approximately 2 % of all issued e-tickets can have some technical problems, in which case you will be issued a new personalized e-ticket free of charge
If your e-ticket gets stolen, lost or damaged, you have to pay a fee of EUR 2.85.
Getting a new ticket
Whenever you need to get a new e-ticket, go to the closest Client Services Office (open on workdays from 9:00 to 19:00 and on Saturdays from 10:00 to 16:00):
- Rīga Central Bus Station, 1 Prāgas Street (behind Stockmann and Forum Cinemas) — see map
- 49/53 Brīvības Street — see map
- 1 Spīķeru Street — see map
The e-ticket system retains all the information about your routes and payments, which means that even if the card is lost, broken or stolen, all your payments/rides will be uploaded to your new e-ticket.
