The professional and academic Master’s programmes of Law are open to students who wish to gain theoretical knowledge in international, medical and social law and acquire skills in research to be able to do independent work in the field of legislation by applying critical constructive thinking skills in the evaluation of legal institutions.

Aim of Study programme:

The aim of the programmes is to prepare highly qualified legal specialists in medical, social and international law.

Main objectives of Study Programme:

  • Render knowledge on various themes in law, their cognitive and interpretative methods.
  • Promote the acquisition of versatile and deep knowledge in order to be able to solve law-related problems of social, medical and international nature.
  • Promote the incorporation of law experts in the labour markets of Latvia and the EU.

Assessment methods:

At the Faculty of Law the module system is used. The length of a course is 5 weeks; usually amounting to 10 classes (6 lectures and 4 seminars). Upon a successful completion of a course, at the end of the 5th week the student takes an exam. An important part of the evaluation and assessment system is participation in lectures, quality of answers in seminars, writing problem essays on lecture and seminar topics, presenting projects, passing tests and exams.
