Guest Lectures on Cancer Epidemiology to be held on 8th and 9th of December

FCRaThe Riga Stradiņš University, Statistics Unit of the Faculty of Medicine is organizing guest lectures on cancer epidemiology to be held on 8th and 9th of December in the premises of the Institute of Anatomy and Anthropology, Column Hall, 9 Kronvalda Blvd. The lectures will be presented by the Professor of Public Health and Epidemiology of the University of Tampere, Prof. Eero Pukkala.

Professor Eero Pukkala who holds a master’s degree in mathematics and statistics and a doctoral degree in epidemiology is one of the leading Finnish cancer epidemiology researchers, the director of research of the Finnish Cancer Registry and the co-author of over 600 publications dealing with the relation of cancer and other health outcomes to physical, biological and social factors, occupational hazards and life habits.

Prof. Eero Pukkala will read three lectures on cancer epidemiology:

  • Thursday, 8th of December, 13:00 – 15:00 Cancer epidemiology – experience of Finland

  • Friday, 9th of December, 9:00 – 10:30 Cohort studies in cancer epidemiology

  • Friday, 9th of December, 11:00 – 13:00 Biobanks and registries in epidemiologic research on cancer

All three lectures will be presented in English.
