Conference "Society, Health, Welfare" Print E-mail

The 3rd International interdisciplinary scientific Conference "Society, Health, Welfare" organized under the Faculty of Rehabilitation and Department of Social Work will be held in Riga, Latvia on November 11. – 12. 2010.

This years Theme of the Conference is "Social Capacity building for poverty alleviation and decreasing vulnerability: reality, challenge and responsibility".

According to the EU Health Strategy (2008-2013), equity in health and wellbeing are identified as the fundamental values in Europe. These values are not purely a matter of chance but are strongly influenced by the actions of individuals, governments, stakeholders, and communities, and they are not inevitable.

The Conference’s aim is to raise awareness and encourage information-sharing dialogues encompassing national, regional and local perspectives; to recognize that vulnerable and socially excluded groups in order to push for further active and coordinated approaches at all levels for improvement of society’s wellbeing. It is hoped that the participants will research and reassess current situation, rethink policy priorities at all levels, establish comparative analysis, draw lessons from different members and finally derive best practices for future initiatives.

The deadline for theses is September 15, 2010.

The aim of the Conference is to promote the cooperation of specialists working in various fields into the study of society, health and welfare problems.

Application

The organizing Committee is pleased to invite all interested from various fields’ researchers – sociologists, social welfare specialists and social workers, health and rehabilitation specialists, economists, lawyers, philosophers and educators, to attend.

English will be the official languages of the Conference.

Participants wishing to attend the Conference are asked to send a preliminary Application form not later than September 15, 2010.

Programme: The scientific programme will include plenary session, sessions of contributed papers and round table discussions.

The registration fee will be

  • 100 Euros for full participants and 50 Euros for associate participants when registering till October 1, 2010
  • 120 Euros for full participants and 75 Euros for associate participants when registering on the conference day
  • 20 Euro for students

We expect you to transfer the money till October 1, 2010.
Participation fee includes participation at the Conference, lunch and social evening. It does not include travel expenses and accommodation.
