In order to submit your online application for studies at RSU, please follow the instructions and prepare the requested application documents. Please note that your application will be processed for a decision about the study place only when it is fully assembled, that is, only when all of the required supporting digital documents are uploaded or received at RSU.  If an incomplete digital application is received, the RSU International Admissions Office will check and register it and will contact you regarding the missing document(s) to be submitted by the application deadline.

Undergraduate / Medicine, Dentistry and Bachelor’s Study Programmes

Complete the Online Application on the e-Admissions Portal.

Upload your photo (which will be used for your student ID card), fill in the necessary information, and upload the following application documents to the section “Completed Education”.

  1. Passport/ID Card - picture page of the passport or the national ID card (front and back)
    • Upload the document onto the section “Passport/ID Card”.
    • Click on “Attach the identification document”.
  2. EUR 100.00 Application Fee Payment Slip
    (EUR 20.00 for citizens of Latvia, who have obtained their previous education in Latvia)
    • Upload the payment slip onto the subsection “Other Documents (payment slip, additional certificates, etc.)”.
    • The application fee shall be paid to:

  3. Secondary School Leaving Documents
    • Upload secondary school leaving documents onto the subsection “Secondary School/University Diploma & Grade Transcript”.
    • Provide the documents both in the original language and in English (if the documents are not issued in English).
    • If you studied in a secondary school outside of the EU/EEA, all secondary school leaving documents have to be legalised or have to have an Apostille seal on them (depending on the country where you studied).
  4. Document Confirming English Proficiency*
    • * The document is not required for applicants who have obtained their secondary education in English or are citizens of the EU/EEA countries (the final English grade from secondary school will be evaluated).
    • See the list of accepted language certificates and the minimum scores on the RSU website section - Requirements for English Proficiency.
    • Upload the English proficiency document onto the subsection “English Proficiency Certificate”.
  5. Two (2) Letters of Recommendation
    • Upload original letters signed by the referee onto the subsection “Letters (Recommendation & Motivation)”.
    • We accept letters only on the official RSU form. Both Word and PDF formats can be found by scrolling to the bottom of the page.
    • The letters are usually written by teachers, professors, employers, course instructors, etc.
    • We do NOT accept letters written by relatives or friends.
  6. Letter of Motivation
    • Upload the documents onto the subsection “Letters (Recommendation & Motivation)”.
    • We accept letters only on the official RSU form. Both Word and PDF formats can be found by scrolling to the bottom of the page.
    • Explain your motivation to study at RSU and the chosen programme. Include information about relevant personal, professional, or academic achievements.
  7. ECTS Transfer students*
    • If you have a previous University education or you currently are a University student, there might be courses/subjects eligible for transfer of study credits.
    • Upload the Official Academic Transcript (signed and stamped by the University) onto the subsection “Secondary School/University Diploma & Grade Transcript”.
    • The academic transcript has to be provided in English (original transcript or a certified copy). The transcript should include exam grades and ECTS credit points received in all completed courses/subjects.

Postgraduate / Master’s Study Programmes

Complete the Online Application on the e-Admissions Portal.

Upload your photo (which will be used for your student ID card), fill in the necessary information, and upload the following application documents to the section “Completed Education”.

    • If you studied in a university outside of the EU/EEA, all secondary school leaving documents have to be legalised or have to have an Apostille seal on them (depending on the country where you studied).
  4. Document Confirming English Proficiency

International Governance and Diplomacy, Russia and Eurasia Studies

  1. Written Essay
    • An essay (1000 words) on a topical issue in international relations.
    • Upload the document onto the subsection “Other Documents (payment slip, additional certificates, etc.)”.
  2. Publications and Documents of Additional Training/Activities (preferable)
    • Upload the document onto the subsection “Other Documents (payment slip, additional certificates, etc.)”.
    • We accept your publications & documents confirming your participation in courses, seminars, conferences, etc.

PhD / Doctor of Science Study Programmes

    • Upload the document onto the subsection “Other Documents (payment slip, additional certificates, etc.)”.
  7. Abstract for Planned Doctoral Thesis
    • Upload the abstract of the planned doctoral thesis (maximum 6 pages) with your signature and signature(s) of the supervisor(s) of the doctoral thesis.
    • Upload the document onto the subsection “Other Documents (payment slip, additional certificates, etc.)”.
  8. Publications and Documents Confirming Scientific Work
    • Upload the document onto the subsection “Other Documents (payment slip, additional certificates, etc.)”.

Click “Submit”. You will receive a confirmation e-mail with further instructions.

Application Submission

When the application is complete and submitted, send an e-mail to admissionsatrsu[pnkts]lv (admissions[at]rsu[dot]lv) with your online application NUMBER (your digital application page, top right corner) and your NAME, SURNAME. This will allow us to process your application. Once we have checked and registered your digital application, we will send you an email about your application. For any inquiries, please contact us via admissionsatrsu[pnkts]lv (admissions[at]rsu[dot]lv).

Decisions on Study Places

The decision of the RSU International Admissions Committee about the study place offer/rejection will be announced within two months after receiving a complete digital application. We take decisions on study places on rolling basis. At the beginning of the admission process, the decisions are taken once a month. Later in the admission process, the decisions are more frequent – every two weeks or even every week. Thus, if you apply early and submit all necessary application documents, you will get an early answer. 

We will send you an e-mail with the official RSU decision about the study place and with respective official RSU letters attached to the e-mail address specified in your online application.
