Biomehānikas zinātniskā laboratorijas darbības virzieni saistīti ar eksperimentāliem un teorētiskiem cilvēku mīksto un cieto audu pētījumiem dažādos slogojuma veidos.

Biomehānikas zinātniskā laboratorijas zinātniskā darbība sastītā arī ar biosaderības pētījumiem starp bioloģiskiem audiem un to aizvietotājiem, bioloģisko audu aizvietotāju izstrādāšanu no kompozīto materiālu mehānisko īpašību un struktūras aspekta, nanostrukturētiem materiāliem un audu inženieriju.
