Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) mixed choir Rīga closed the season with the Winter Concert that took place on 20 December at St. Saviour's (Anglican) Church.

The choir presented a programme looking back on the previous year’s achievements – a number of events associated with Latvia’s centenary and participation in the contest in Spain.

The choir performed compositions by Lūcija Garūta, Raimonds Tiguls, Jānis Aišpurs, Irīna Rebhūna, Jānis Ķirsis, Spanish composer Javier Busto and Lithuanian author Donatas Zakaras. The concert ended with the Diatonic Cantata by Jānis Lūsēns with lyrics by Leonīds Breikšs, creating a tranquil and meditative atmosphere on New Year’s Eve.

Conductors of the concert were Evita Taranda and Zane Zilberte, choir master – Uģis Meņģelis. Musicians Aigars Reinis (organ) and Linda Auzāne (violin) joined the choir.

Following tradition, the audience was invited to enjoy a hot drink and the singers’ home-made gingerbread. Admission to the concert was by donation, the concert revenue was channelled to the charity campaign “Eņģeļi pār Latviju”.
