Preliminary Knowledge:
Anatomy, physiology, pharmacology and basic principles of health care organization.
Objective:
To provide students with a basic understanding of: 1) the disaster medical system organizational framework and casualties care principles due to medical mass accidents and disasters; 2) medical care principles of acute intoxication (acute exogenous intoxication epidemiology, general considerations of toxycokinetics, toxycodynamics and treatment recommendations of the most urgent and toxic substances; 3) responding to emergency and life-threatening situations before the doctor's arrival.

Preparing presentations using the recommended literature and Internet sources, following evaluation and analysis in practical lessons.
Assessment Criteria:
Multi-choice questionnaire test (evaluation criteria – more than 75% correct answers) and oral answers about course topics.

Learning Outcomes
Knowledge:As a result of the study course acquisition students will acquire basic knowledge of the principles of disaster medical consequences, providing emergency assistance to as many victims as possible as soon as possible, following the principle of priority, as well as basic knowledge of clinical toxicology – toxicological kinetics, clinical opportunities and peculiarities, as well as gain knowledge in stopping bleeding, performing anti-shock measures, performing immobilization in cases of bone fractures, providing assistance in cases of burns, overheating and hypothermia.
Skills:Will be able to understand the health care system special features in emergency medical and public health situations, be able to assess the poisoned human health seriousness of the situation, will be able to carry out resuscitation – cardiopulmonary resuscitation measures (basic algorithms), will acquire skills in controlling bleeding, shock, immobilization performance of fracture, assistance provision of burns, frostbite, drowning, overheating, hypothermia and acute poisonings.
Competencies:Students will be able to use the acquired competence of: 1) functioning of health care system in emergency medical and emergency public health situations; 2) acute exogenous intoxication risk factors and epidemiology, immediate medical care of acute toxicological patient, linking it to the specific clinical situation; 3) the first aid in various emergency medical situations.
