Study course description
Preliminary Knowledge:
Not required.
Objective:
To develop students' understanding of the types of psychological tests and surveys, concepts of psychometrics, stages of development and adaptation of tests and surveys, to provide students with knowledge about psychometrics, development and adaptation of psychological tests, to provide students with skills to develop or adapt test or survey by independently planning and implementing a pilot study and evaluating its results, as well as is to increase knowledge and requisite skills of participants on the use of SPSS program.

Assessment
Unaided Work:
Students choose a test/survey to adapt or develop a test/survey for definite variable. Working in groups students formulate/translate the items of the selected test/survey, describe the procedure of administering the test/survey, prepare the necessary stimulus materials for the pilot study, present the pilot study plan. Students carry out a pilot research, processing necessary data, analysing, describing and presenting the results. Students participate in practical classes on formulation/translation of test/questionnaire items, pilot study design, data processing and analysis (SPSS), and analysis and interpretation of pilot study results.
Assessment Criteria:
1. Participate in practical classes on formulation/translation of test/survey items, pilot study design, data processing and analysis (SPSS program), analysis and interpretation of pilot study results. 2. Prepare, describe and present the pilot study design and implementation steps: • The survey/test items are clear and understandable by the target group. • Test/survey administration procedure is correctly described. • Stimulus material is properly prepared. • Expected steps for the implementation of the pilot study are in line with International Test Commission guidelines. 3. Prepare and submit a pilot study report on test/survey development or adaptation: • Report submitted on time. • The report is fully consistent in form and content and is very well integrated. 4. Present a review of the pilot study on the development or adaptation of the test/survey. • The presentation reflects the steps taken to develop or adapt the test/survey. • Use appropriate terminology during the presentation, are able to justify one's opinion, answer questions. • Are able to engage productively in discussions about other students' presentations.

Learning Outcomes
Knowledge:Student defines and explains concepts of psychometrics, measurement scales, reliability and validity criteria of tests and surveys. Identifies the development stages of tests and surveys and explains the standardisation and adaptation procedures.
Skills:Uses the terminology acquired during the course; discusses the types of tests and surveys and their development and adaptation; plans the pilot study and correctly prepares the necessary stimulus materials for its implementation; performs a test/survey development or adaptation of an existing test/survey working in a group; uses SPSS software to calculate psychometric indicators; discusses test and survey development stages, measurement scales, item analysis, test and survey reliability and validity.
Competencies:Compares different tests/surveys based on scientific principles. Plans and implements test/survey development or adaptation independently using guidelines.
