Preliminary Knowledge: | Human Molecular Biology; General Medical Chemistry; Medical Physics; Human Anatomy; English in Dentistry; Medical Biochemistry; Normal Physiology; Microbiology, Immunology, Virology; Pathology; Emergency Medicine; Internal Diseases with Propedeutics; Disaster Medicine; Toxicology and narcology; Infectious diseases; Psychosomatic medicine and psychotherapy, General surgery. | ||||||||
Objective: | The purpose of the course is to provide (for civil 4th year dental faculty students) basic theoretical and practical knowledge of the: - military medicine, - standards of care, - modular approach to medical support, - evacuation principles, - SMARCH algorithmes, - to introduce its tasks in conditions of war, crise and peace, - emphasise the role of the Military medicine in conditions of natural and human-caused crises. The course will familiarise students with: - criteria for physical and mental expertise and health assessment of military personal being recruited and already serving (Fit for Service), - will introduce to outpatient treatment in Military medical facilities. | ||||||||

Assessment | |||||||||
Unaided Work: | 8 acad. hours. Students refer to the recommended and optional literature for each practical class; Identify unclear questions and problems. In order to evaluate the quality of the study course as a whole, the student must fill out the study course evaluation questionnaire on the Student Portal. | ||||||||
Assessment Criteria: | The final assessment consists of 2 parts: 1. Clinical case (practical part, 60% from final grade), 2. Theory - MCQ Exam (on-line, "open-book", 60 MCQ, 60 min, 40% from final grade). The student must demonstrate: • understanding of the learned topics, • ability to solve problems in simulated clinical situations. | ||||||||

Learning Outcomes | |||||||||
Knowledge: | Students will have the following knowledge: - basic theoretical and practical knowledge of the Military medicine, - standards of care, - modular approach to medical support and evacuation principles and its tasks in conditions of war, crise and peace, - criteria for physical and mental expertise and health assessment of military personal being recruited and already serving, - outpatient treatment in Military medical facilities, - role of the Military medicine in conditions of natural and human-caused crises. | ||||||||
Skills: | Students will be able: - to adapt their own actions to the requirements of Military medicine; - to create a place of medical activities focusing on evaluation of individual’s health for fitness for military service and in war and crises conditions. | ||||||||
Competencies: | Students will be competent: - to use basic knowledge, argumentation and logic to analyse situations identified in Military medicine; - to discuss, to explain own opinion and constructively promote the achievement of professional goals and specific tasks in ensuring health of an individual (persons to be recruited or military persons) and civilians; - to cooperate with and within of Military medical unit in a professional way, including medical colleagues in the atmosphere full of respect, observing national interests and medical ethical standards, respecting human rights and ensuring epidemiological safety; - to demonstrate and develop themself as a future dental practitioner and health promoter in the context of MilMed. | ||||||||
