Objective

To provide an insight into and learn about the main respiratory, cardiovascular, digestive, urinary, endocrinological and rheumatic diseases, nervous, skin and sexually transmitted diseases, aetiology, pathogenesis, clinical manifestations, possible complications, treatment principles thereof and to acquire knowledge about the principles of patient care and the role of massage in the treatment, care and rehabilitation of patients.

Prerequisites

In anatomy, physiology and propedeutics.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

As a result of completing the study course, students will know the aetiology and pathogenesis of internal diseases, recognise and define clinical symptoms and syndromes, will be able to name and describe diagnostic methods and principles of disease treatment.

Skills

Students will use the acquired knowledge in dealing with different situations: they will be able to explain the tasks, principles, nature and purpose of massage to the patient, their relatives and carers. Will be able to explain to the patient, their relatives and carers the patient’s own role in achieving the desired goals from the massage.

Competence

As a result of completing the study course, students will be able to identify clinical signs of diseases and syndromes and differentiate between them, analyse situations, argue, logically formulate and explain their opinion. Will be able to correlate the patient’s symptoms, syndromes, prescribed measures and the masseur’s role in solving the patient’s problems. To independently perform the duties of a masseur related to the treatment, care and psychological support of a patient.
