| Preliminary Knowledge: | The knowledge gained in the study process so far about the structure and functioning of public administration, as well as the basic principles of building international relations. | ||||||||
| Objective: | The objective of the placement is to strengthen and improve the theoretical knowledge acquired in the previous study process in political science, international relations and diplomacy in a practical working environment. | ||||||||
| Assessment | |||||||||
| Unaided Work: | To get acquainted thoroughly with the placement programme and its requirements, to follow the recommendations of the placement supervisor and managers (officials) of the placement institution; to fulfil placement assignments dutifully; to strictly observe work discipline and internal rules of practice in the placement institution; not to disclose information that is not subject to disclosure by law (limited availability, restricted, etc.). | ||||||||
| Assessment Criteria: | At the end of the placement, students of the Faculty of European Studies are required to submit a placement report and the company’s or organisation’s Feedback on the Placement of a Student of Rīga Stradiņš University Faculty of European Studies. The study placement of students of the Department of Political Science, Faculty of European Studies, ends with a test (4 CP/6 ECTS), which takes place after the submission of written placement reports. The placement test shall be supervised and evaluated by the head of the study programme. If a student has not undergone study placement or has received an unsatisfactory grade for work during the placement, they cannot receive permission to develop a Bachelor’s thesis. In case of an unsatisfactory evaluation of the study placement, students of the Department of Political Science of the Faculty of European Studies may be given the opportunity (with the permission of the Dean of the Faculty of European Studies) to repeat the study placemen tin parallel with their studies in the following semester. The conditions for repeating study placement also apply if the student has been absent due to illness. | ||||||||

| Learning Outcomes | |||||||||
| Knowledge: | During the placement, the student obtains knowledge that allows to successfully combine the theoretical knowledge acquired during the study process and its practical expression in professional activity. The placement provides the student with a unique opportunity to test and put into practice the theoretical knowledge acquired during the study process under the supervision of professional practitioners. | ||||||||
| Skills: | The student is able to link theoretical knowledge to practice during and after the placement, thus more successfully solving increasingly complex research tasks both in the further study process and in professional activities. | ||||||||
| Competencies: | During the placement, the student has improved and strengthened their knowledge in the chosen field of political science. The student is competent in the functioning of the relevant place of placement. | ||||||||
