Study course description
Preliminary Knowledge:
Knowledge of the study courses implemented in the study programme. Students need knowledge of research methodology and methods, setting of basic research tasks and course planning, theories related to the selected research topic, creating bibliography.
Objective:
To acquire practical skills in the development of scientific work, expanding and systematising theoretical and practical knowledge, acquiring the ability to apply it in the research of the chosen topic, formulation of problems, elaboration of reasoned conclusions and proposals.
Assessment
Unaided Work:
Master’s thesis is elaborated in accordance with the work plan developed by the Department of International Business and Economics, which defines the tasks to be accomplished and their term. Development of the Master’s thesis is organised as follows: 1) Selection of the topic of Master’s thesis and approval of the supervisor; 2) theoretical and methodological seminar on the development of the Master’s thesis; 3) elaboration and defence of Master’s thesis application; 4) submission of first version of the Master’s thesis; 5) preliminary defence of the Master’s thesis; 6) submission of the final version of the Master’s thesis; 7) defence of the Master’s thesis. At the beginning of the respective semester, information on the terms for completing the tasks of the Master’s thesis is available from the Department of International Business and Economics. During the development of the Master’s thesis, students carry out analysis and compilation of theoretical and empirical literature and information sources according to the topic, carry out qualitative and/or quantitative research, summarise the research results, and make proposals.
Assessment Criteria:
The evaluation of the Master’s thesis is carried out by the Commission for the Evaluation of Master’s Theses, taking into account the compliance of the Master’s thesis with the requirements of Master’s thesis, the defence process, reviewer’s review and supervisor’s evaluation of the Master’s thesis and cooperation with the student. The Master’s thesis is assessed using 10-point grading system.

Learning Outcomes
Knowledge:During the elaboration of the Master’s thesis, students improve their knowledge about the research design, research methodology and methods, as well as questions related to the chosen topic of the Master’s thesis.
Skills:Students acquire skills to carry out independent scientific research, to choose methods of scientific and empirical analysis, to reasonably discuss research questions and results. Within the framework of the defence of the application, preliminary defence and defence of the Master’s thesis, students improve their presentation skills.
Competencies:During the elaboration and defence of the Master’s thesis, students acquire the competence on how to apply theoretical, practical and methodological knowledge in scientific research, are able to carry out theoretical and practical research, interpret the obtained results. Students improve their competence on issues of the research topic.
