Preliminary Knowledge:
Anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, gymnastics and terminology.
Objective:
To acquaint students with the Pilates method, to promote the formation of practical skills and abilities in the execution of the elements.

Assessment
Unaided Work:
During the study course, students perform and demonstrate Level 1 Pilates exercises independently or in groups, paying special attention to their proper performance technique and breathing. Prepare a 15-minute Pilates training program according to your level of physical fitness, submit a synopsis and demonstrate the exercises.
Assessment Criteria:
Participation and active participation in practical classes makes up 60% of the mark (if 13 classes are attended, it gives 6 points). 40% of the mark (4 points in total) the student receives for the completion of theory and practical tasks at the end of the study course, ratio 1:1 (50:50). Both the theoretical answer and the performance of practical tasks are evaluated in a 0 or 1 or 2 point system, respectively, where 2 points is the maximum.

Learning Outcomes
Knowledge:Will define the concept of Pilates exercise method • tell about the founder of the Pilates exercise system and describe the popularity of this method in the world; • will be able to explain the Pilates exercise technique and the role of the "power band" in improving spinal health; • define the six basic principles of the Pilates method; • Identify the key factors that improve health in the Pilates program.
Skills:As a result of the study course the student will be able to: • use Pilates exercises for health promotion and disease prevention; • create a simple Pilates training programme for people of different ages and genders; • choose and recommend the right exercises using the basic Pilates training principles; • apply and demonstrate proper breathing techniques in Pilates programme; • evaluate and apply relaxation techniques in the training programme; • explain and motivate themselves and the client to Pilates; • create a workout programme for 15 minutes; • apply and execute Pilates exercises by applying Pilates principles.
Competencies:Using the acquired knowledge and skills, students will be able to evaluate the proper Pilates exercise technique and the need to use it to improve health and physical fitness, as well as correctly execute Pilates basic movements and their modifications using Pilates basic principles of motion. The student should know and understand the theory, tasks and objectives of the Pilates exercise system.
