RSU International Department invites international students to the annual “Meet the Ambassador” events to be held this month. During these events international students will have the opportunity to meet with and ask questions to their countries’ ambassadors.

On Thursday, October 11, H. E. Mr Rolf Schütte, Ambassador of Germany to Latvia, will visit the University to meet with students from Germany. Currently there are 867 full-time degree-seeking German students who constitute the largest international student group at RSU.

Mr Schütte has been the Ambassador of Germany to Latvia since 2015. His prior foreign service experiences involve various diplomatic positions in Israel, the United States, Italy, Russia, as well as the Federal Foreign Office in Germany and at the United Nations.  

Register here by Monday, October 8On Tuesday, October 16, a meeting with H. E. Ms Marja Riitta Korpivaara, Ambassador of Finland to Latvia, will be held for Finnish students, the third largest international student group at the University.

Ms Korpivaara started her ambassadorship in Latvia this fall. She has also been the Ambassador of Finland to Nigeria and held several foreign services positions at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Finland and Finnish embassies in the United States, Russia, Belgium and other countries. She is a graduate of the University of Helsinki.

Both events will be held in the national languages, German and Finnish, respectively.

The Meet the Ambassador series were started by RSU’s International Department in 2016. Each fall and spring several ambassadors visit the University to discuss various issues that are important to RSU’s international students.
