On Friday 21 June Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) hosted the first of its summer graduation ceremonies. 58 young healthcare specialists, graduates from the Liepāja Branch of RSU, were the first to obtain their diplomas. Graduation ceremonies will be held in the RSU Great Hall in Riga from 25 to 28 June where 960 graduates from nine faculties will be awarded diplomas – among them 118 international students. A total of 1018 graduates will be receiving their diplomas this summer including 258 social sciences students.

Nurses, medical massage therapists and physician's assistants were among the young healthcare professionals from the Liepāja Branch of RSU who received their diplomas on 21 June in the Liepāja Olympic Centre. The Liepāja Branch of RSU is the only university of its kind in the Kurzeme region, and is therefore a significant provider of employees for healthcare institutions in the area. For this year’s autumn intake the Liepāja Branch will offer a Master’s programme in nursing to provide the opportunity for nurses to further their professional skills. It is hoped that a number of the newly graduated nurses will continue their studies in September.

Savukārt RSU aulā izlaidumu maratonu otrdien, 25. jūnijā, plkst. 15.00 sāks Ārvalstu studentu nodaļa, kuru šogad absolvēs 95 jaunie ārsti un 23 zobārsti. Šāgada absolventi pārstāv 20 valstis – ASV, Austriju, Azerbaidžānu, Franciju, Grieķiju, Gruziju, Izraēlu, Īriju, Ķīnu, Kanādu, Latviju, Lielbritāniju, Nīderlandi, Norvēģiju, Portugāli, Somiju, Spāniju, Šrilanku, Vāciju un Zviedriju.

The marathon of RSU graduation ceremonies continued on Tuesday 25 June at 15:00 when diplomas were awarded to 95 young physicians and 23 dentists from the International Student Department. This year’s graduates represented 20 countries: Austria, Azerbaijan, Canada, China, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Israel, Latvia, the Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Sri Lanka, Sweden, the UK and USA.

On Wednesday 26 June the graduation ceremonies for RSU social sciences students took place. At 11:00 the Faculty of European Studies issued diplomas to its 77 graduates – young political scientists, experts in international business, marketing, law, advertising and start-up entrepreneurship. Whereas at 14:00 a total of 61 graduates from the Faculty of Communication received their diplomas, among them journalists, psychologists, social anthropologists, sociologists, photographers, multimedia communication and public relations experts. At 17:00 the Faculty of Law awarded its diplomas to 120 graduates making it the largest faculty of social sciences in terms of graduate numbers.

The ceremonies continued on Thursday 27 June at 12:00 with the Faculty of Rehabilitation. This year 134 physiotherapists, audiologists and speech therapists, occupational therapists, nutrition specialists, rehabilitologists and technical orthopaedists were among the faculty's graduates. At 16:00 diplomas were conferred to the graduates of the Faculty of Public Health and Social Welfare – 183 nursing, public health, social work, nutrition and public health professionals, as well as midwives, health psychologists and supervisors.

The long week of ceremonies concluded on Friday 28 June. The graduation ceremony of 191 young physicians from the Faculty of Medicine was held at 12:00. The final graduates to receive their diplomas will be 45 young dentists and dental hygienists from the Faculty of Dentistry and 31 pharmacists from the Faculty of Pharmacy.
