The scientific journal Socrates was created in 2015. Its main purpose is to circulate the research of Latvian and international researchers, practising lawyers, and academics to a national and international audience. The contents of the journal promote discussion about current issues in the field of jurisprudence.

Socrates provides the opportunity to publish innovative studies not only for renowned Latvian and international authors, but also for young and emerging researchers.

The scientific articles published by Socrates aim to create and broaden debate among Latvian and European researchers in the field of legal science. The journal publishes articles on current legal questions, legislation, rulings, interpretations of ECHR verdicts, incipient draft laws, as well as problem areas of national and international laws and possible solutions.
