Objective

To provide the student with theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the nature of urgent and elective abdominal, proctological, urological and gynecological surgical diseases, their etiology, pathogenesis, clinical, diagnostics, treatment and care principles, as well as disease prevention measures. To develop understanding of surgical patient care planning, management, documentation, in different care settings.

Prerequisites

General care, Pharmacology, Clinical pharmacology and medical care, Surgical diseases, Surgical diseases and patient care.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

As a result of the study course acquisition students will gain an in-depth understanding and will be able to explain the etiology, pathogenesis, clinical picture and possible complications of abdominal, proctological, urological, gynecological diseases. Will be able to indicate the surgical examination and treatment methods for these diseases.

Skills

As a result of the course acquisition the student will be able to evaluate and understand the specifics of the care of the indicated surgical diseases, as well as to plan the work of the care, applying critical thinking according to the specifics of each field. Students will be able to carry out pre- and post-operative patient care, educate patients and their relatives, as well as apply qualitative and efficient various medical procedures, medical care, using the latest technologies for the specifics of the field.

Competence

Will be able to analyze specified surgical disease patient care before and after surgery. Will be able to recommend measures and means for prevention of postoperative complications. To develop, prioritize and address care priorities for patient with abdominal, urological, proctological and gynecological care. Evaluate and perform wound care.
