Foundations of Rehabilitation (LF_330)
About Study Course
Objective
To promote the acquisition of knowledge about the basic concepts of rehabilitation and the application of rehabilitation technologies, to develop an understanding of the course of the rehabilitation process, to introduce students to aquatic therapy as one of the rehabilitation methods.
Prerequisites
In normal anatomy, physiology, clinical medicine, pathological physiology.
Learning outcomes
As a result of completing the study course, students are able to describe the organisation of rehabilitation care, the stages of rehabilitation and the rehabilitation team; define the masseur’s role in rehabilitation care; recognise the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health; describe the assessment of functional abilities; physical therapy methods; indications and contraindications for the use of cold and heat therapy; recognise the characteristics of posture; outline the basic principles of rehabilitation and possible problems for patients of different profiles.
As a result of completing the study course, students know how to perform simple tests for assessing the client’s physical functional abilities and activities needed on a daily basis; demonstrate simple exercises to clients of various profiles; apply the basic principles of cold and heat therapy methods; illustrate the characteristics of posture; recognise posture disorders and correct them using massage procedures.
As a result of completing the study course, students are able to assess possible problems in rehabilitation care; perform a posture assessment; apply simple exercises and the foundations of rehabilitation in the work of a masseur in rehabilitation care; use the acquired theoretical and practical knowledge in professional activities.
