Course supervisor:Jeļena Krasiļņikova
Course level:Master's
Target audience:Medicine
Branch of science:Clinical Medicine

Objective

To promote knowledge acquisition of molecular processes in the organism at the cellular level including explanation of functional activity of the organism biochemical and physiological processes.

Prerequisites

Anatomy, histology, physics, biology, physiology, biochemistry.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

Upon completion of the course students will be able to name the all stages of macrometabolism from nutrients conversion in digestive system to the end products in the cell;
They will know blockers and activators of digestive enzymes, related pathologies and dysmetabolical conditions; definition”Enzymopathy” and affected pathways of human metabolism as a result of cells enzymes malfunction.
They will learn all regulating types of human homeostasis and cell metabolism by buffer system and hormonal disfunction.
They will be able to interpret pathogenesis of major disease on the cell metabolism level and know main clinical pathologyes biochemical parametres of blood and urine changes.

Skills

Upon completion of the course students will be able to:
- explain pathology changes of human macrometabolism based on digestive level;
- explain how metabolical processes are crossing in the cells in norm and pathologies;
- explain phases of detoxication of cells' waste products;
- explain specificity of cell metabolism in different organs in physiological and non-physiological conditions.

Competence

Upon completion of the course students will be able to:
- assess how endo-, exogenic and epigenetic factors affect the cell metabolism;
- assess how dysmetabolism in organs and cells level ca induce hypoenergetical conditions, free radicals related pathologies;
- interpret relation between level of cell metabolism and biochemical parameters in blood and urine;
- assess some clinical symptoms to macro-metabolism changes.
