Objective

To introduce students with functions of oro-facial system, its examination options, clinical laboratory and morphological diagnostic possibilities.

Prerequisites

To start study course (or semester) all previous assessments according to Study plan (D1) should be successfully passed.
1. Anatomy of oral cavity. 2. Normal and pathological physiology. 3. Medical biology. 4. Histology and pathological histology. 5. Microbiology. 6. Pharmacology. 7. Internal diseases.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

After successful completion of the course the students will have acquired basic knowledge that will be needed for diagnosis of pathological changes in the oral cavity, including other diseases and manifestations of concomitant diseases. Students will be capable to make morphological diagnosis, interpret pathological laboratory data, they will know the proper sequence of investigation and will be able to plan treatment. Students will know the investigation methods in forensic dentistry and their use in identification of a person.

Skills

Students will be able to diagnose and differentiate between primary and secondary disease elements, read the data of the blood and biochemical analysis, recognize the changes of physiological processes in the development of oral pathology.

Competence

After completion of the course the students will be able to begin professional diagnostics of oral disorders, associating it with a comprehensive in-depth treatment plan based on the assessment of general health of the patient.
