Objective

The course introduces students to the main personality theories of the 20th century.
The objectives of the course are to form an understanding of the main personality theories and to develop students’ ability to analyze and apply main concepts used in these theories to particular case studies.

Prerequisites

No previous knowledge is required.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

The student will be able 1) to grasp the main ideas of the personality theories, 2) to define the main concepts used in these theories and 3) to describe the historical development of the personality psychology.

Skills

The student will be able 1) to to compare and evaluate the personality theories; 2) to choose the most appropriate theory in order to apply it to the individual cases and 3) to use appropriate concepts in order to describe personality. In addition to this, 4) the student will be able to evaluate the weak and strong aspects of each personality theory.

Competence

The student will be able to understand, analyze and apply the most relevant concepts of personality theories. Student has improved her communicative (group work and discussions) and cognitive (individual work and the exam) competences.
