Objective

To provide basic knowledge of the theories of personality, personality functioning levels and personality structure. To provide knowledge of the psychoemotional and somatic factor interactions in etiopathogenesis of psychosomatic disorders.
To provide knowledge of manifestation of chronic pain in dentist's practice.

Prerequisites

Experience in working with patients. Understanding naturalistic and humanitarian concept of the psyche.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

Knowledge of etiopathogenesis of psychosomatic disorders and diseases in dental clinic. Understands how to create doctor-patient relationship and its therapeutic aspects. Analyses differences in doctor-patient relationship according to various personality structures.

Skills

Students will be able to diagnose psychosomatic disorders and to understand their etiopathogenesis. Ability to provide supportive therapy elements in doctor-patient relationship.

Competence

Students will recognize psychosomatic disorders in dental clinic patients and send them to the doctor-psychotherapist. They will manage to provide supportive therapy elements.
