Objective

Promotion of knowledge and understanding of the regulatory framework of health care, health personnel and patients' rights and obligations, storage of medical records, protection of personal data, midwifery regulations, procedures for assistance with deliveries, rights of individual in the field of sexual and reproductive health.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

During the study course, students will acquire knowledge in the following fields: health care personnel rights and duties, patients' rights and obligations, protection of personal data, storage of medical records, midwifery-related legal matters – procedures for assistance with delivery, individual’s rights in the field of sexual and reproductive health. Students will develop understanding of medical law, its role in public and professional actions.

Skills

Students will master the skills and proficiency in legal issues pertaining to their occupation – medical law (patient and health care personnel rights and duties), medical records, midwifery-related legal matters – procedures for assistance with delivery, individual’s rights in the field of sexual and reproductive health. Students will obtain knowledge of applicable laws and regulations in their profession applicable in situations arising in the course of routine work.

Competence

Students will acquire competence to use medical law and regulations in health care, incl. patient's rights and duties, health care personnel rights and duties, responsibility, including midwifery-related legal matters – procedures for assistance with delivery, individual’s rights in the field of sexual and reproductive health, protection of personal data, as well as medical records.
