Objective

The objective of the course is to provide students with knowledge of regionalisation trends in the international economy, paying special attention to the motives of formation of regional economic blocs, their development, impact on international business relations and cooperation of market participants.

Prerequisites

Knowledge of the basics of economics, basic knowledge of international business and basic knowledge of international relations.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

Understanding of the nature, basic principles, main trends and mechanisms of regionalisation; Understanding of current issues of regionalisation in international economy;
Knowledge of key players in the public, private, NGO and supranational sectors in regionalisation processes in international economy.

Skills

Presentations of reports strengthen student ability to reasonably explain and discuss current issues of regionalisation.
Group work and discussions improve students’ reasoning and critical thinking skills.

Competence

Ability to analyse the role and influence of the key players of globalisation in the regionalisation processes in international economy;
Ability to identify and analyse the key determinants of regionalisation processes in international economy, as well as analyse the most appropriate international business strategies for them.
