Objective

To acquire knowledge and practical skills for the application of physical exercises in strengthening health and increasing physical working abilities.

Prerequisites

Physical activities background knowledge recommended, but the knowledge can also be obtained during the study course.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

On completion of the study course students will be able to:
• tell about different exercises and types of exercises, their application in health promotion;
• outline methodology for aerobic exercise, strength training, flexibility and balance exercises;
• evaluate the content of different sports classes;
• explain the importance of proper breathing when performing strength exercises;
• explain the need for proper posture, movement culture, plasticity in everyday life.

Skills

On completion of the study course students will be able to:
• use aerobic, strength and muscle stretching exercises to strengthen health;
• control own muscle function, dose own load;
• monitor one's well-being, control the heart rate during sports activities;
• use various gymnastic equipment to develop and strengthen body muscles;
• create presentations of different types of exercises.

Competence

Using the acquired knowledge and skills, students will be able to evaluate the use of different types of sports activities to improve their health and fitness.
