Objective

To acquire skills and knowledge on correct reading, writing, usage and explanation of clinical terms, to integrate the knowledge of Latin in studying other subjects and professional settings.

Prerequisites

Latvian and English Alphabet.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

On successful completion of the course the students will be able to:
• explain the basic rules in reading and writing medical terminology;
• identify the Latin and Greek words;
• explain the rules for making, explaining and using clinical terms.

Skills

On successful completion of the course the students will be able to:
• read and write the terms correctly;
• form new words and identify them;
• classify and compare clinical terms;
• understand Latin famous idioms and explain their meaning.

Competence

On successful completion of the course the students will be able to use clinical terms in academic and professional settings.
