Objective

To provide knowledge and raise awareness about transcultural nursing approach, and develop skills in information gathering and problem solving.

Prerequisites

Philosophy and medical ethics, propaedeutics, nursing process, an introduction to the library use.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

Upon completion of the study course the students will be able to describe the observation model of transcultural care, aspects which are important in the care of patients, and a nurse/midwife's role in it.

Skills

Upon completion of the study course the students will be able to assess diversity, get the information, analyse and formulate it, and to put forward and solve the problems of transcultural care.

Competence

Upon completion of the study course the students develop competence: to describe the situation of a patient and formulate care problems, taking into account cross-cultural health care context, integrating and using appropriate skills, knowledge and attitudes for the situation.
