Objective

To teach students how to act in emergency and life-threatening situations before the medical staff arrives.

Prerequisites

Knowledge of biology at secondary school level.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

As a result of the study course, students will be able to perform primary survey of the victim in the pre-hospital stage, cardio-pulmonary resuscitation, will have obtained main knowledge in stopping bleeding, anti-shock measures, immobilization in cases of bone fractures, assistance in burns, overheating, hypothermia and acute poisoning.

Skills

Students will be able to perform emergency care, including basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation algorithm, to recognize symptoms of clinical and biological death, evacuation of foreign body, to carry out ventilation with a manual ventilator and oxygen inhalations via facial mask, to diagnose inner and outer bleeding and to perform its suspension, as well as to demonstrate the ability to work as a team.

Competence

To provide emergency care, primary and secondary survey of the patient at the pre-hospital stage, situation analysis providing basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation and other first-aid guidelines, to assess the environmental impact of physical factors on the human body and health.
