Study course description
Preliminary Knowledge:
Basic knowledge in epidemiology, public health, biology, microbiology, infections diseases and environmental health.
Objective:
The course aims to increase the knowledge on the principles of epidemiological surveillance and control of infectious diseases and on measures to be taken to control the epidemiological situation of emergency. Course topics: epidemiology of infectious diseases; surveillance and control of: acute intestinal diseases; infectious air-borne diseases; zoonoses; hepatitis and HIV/AIDS; nosocomial infectious diseases.

Individual task – to develop epidemiological control and action plan to control the emergency situation of particular infectious disease (problem solving example).
Assessment Criteria:
The level of individual participation in classes; quality of submitted individual work; results of written final exam.

Learning Outcomes
Knowledge:Describe transmission chain of particular infectious diseases; Describe the registration procedure of epidemiological surveillance; Explain the core principles of emergency control in infectious disease epidemiology.
Skills:Register cases of infectious disease according to the registration procedure of epidemiological surveillance; Analyze examples of emergency situations to control infectious diseases.
Competencies:Develop epidemiological control and action plan to assess and handle complex emergency situations of infectious diseases.
